IFSC career development program launches with 130 places Back
FSI CareerStart, a training and placement program for the financial services sector, has opened with 130 places available. The program is designed to equip people who are considering changing career paths, or who wish to better qualify themselves for work in the financial sector.
Participants take a UCD-accredited course in international finance or investment funds through the Institute of Bankers School of Professional Finance and also take specialised business and management training through the IBEC Management Academy. They are also offered the opportunity of a work placement with top IFSC firms. FSI CareerStart is funded by Springboard (www.springboard.ie), an initiative to provide education and training opportunities to support unemployed people, managed by the Higher Education Authority on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills.

FSI CareerStart was launched by Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn and director of Financial Services Ireland (FSI) Brendan Bruen on the 25th of July. According to Quinn, 'CareerStart is aimed at providing new skills to unemployed people who are seeking work in the international financial services. This sector is vital to our country’s economic recovery. We need to target industries where there are real opportunities for jobs and the FSI CareerStart programme seems to do just that.'

'FSI CareerStart works, just look at the 260 people who improved their skills over the last two years,' says Bruen. 'Last years' program is still ongoing and of the 160 participants, 47 have gotten jobs in the sector already, and many others are still completing their placement.'

The deadline for applications to FSI CareerStart 2012 is August 22nd. Information briefings will be held on August 9th and 16th. To find out more or to apply visit www.FSIcareerstart.ie or call 0818 333 113.
