Deloitte and EY Ireland appoint a total of 14 new partners Back
7 July 2016: In separate announcements Deloitte and EY Ireland announced the appointment of 14 new partners across the firms' practices
Deloitte has appointed eight new paerners, and EY Ireland six.

At Deloitte David Conway and Petri Heinonen have been appointed technology consulting partners; Valarie Daunt is a partner in the Human Capital Management Consulting practice; Anya Cummins is a newly appointed partner in the Corporate Finance department; Matthew Foley has been appointed an audit partner, specialising in financial services; Ciara Regan assumes the role of partner in the firm’s Actuarial, Risk and Analytics group; and Ann McGonagle and Sinead McHugh both become audit partners, specialising in the consumer business and technology industries.

Commenting on the appointments, Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner, Deloitte said: “We’re focussed on delivering our clients insights that inform and enable them to make confident business decisions on the future of their businesses. Our new partners have proven their ability in delivering rounded, complete and diverse views and perspectives on important issues. We are pleased to strengthen our leadership team with their experience and expertise, and wish them every success in their new roles.”

The new EY partners brings the total number of partners within EY's Irish business to 61. In a statement, the firm said "the professional services firm, which provides Assurance, Tax, Transaction and Advisory services, has outperformed its competition over the last three years, with organic growth of more than 16% per annum, and robust growth expected for Financial Year (‘FY’) end 2016." EY's financial year ends in June.

EY said in a statement: "EY has promoted two new Partners within its Performance Improvement business – Marcus Gageby and Barry McCarthy – while Niamh O’Beirne has been promoted to Partner within People Advisory Services. Within its tax division, EY has promoted Cork-based Seamus Downey, underlining the firm’s continued investment in the Munster region, as well as Ian Collins who heads up EY’s Research & Development team. High growth sectors which are core to Ireland’s sustained economic prosperity such as life sciences, are also key areas of investment for EY, reflected by the firm’s appointment of Feargal De Freine as Assurance (audit) Partner from Baxter Healthcare".

Mike McKerr, Country Managing Partner, EY Ireland said: “These senior appointments, alongside our recent office openings and jobs announcement, reflect our confidence in the Irish economy and ambition to further accelerate growth in the years to come. These partner admissions create the next generation of leadership and enable teams to deliver exceptional service to an expanding client base throughout Ireland.”

"EY has grown its workforce by over 27% in the past two years, and now employs over 1,800 people across its seven offices, having recently announced its intention to recruit 220 new experienced hires from various disciplines including accounting, finance, engineering, IT, consultancy and business.

"Fuelled by the impact of technological change and digital disruption, the business world is undergoing a shift in strategy for both EY and their clients. Much of EY’s growth is in areas such as Technology, Data Analytics, Fraud Investigation and Dispute Service and Cyber Security and Performance Improvement".

McKerr said: “The scale and scope of disruption now requires a broader range of skills and there has never been a more exciting time to join EY, in terms of the breath and depth of opportunities for our people”.

"EY has a leading people culture and is committed to nurturing talent within the firm, having either promoted or progressed 36% of its people this year alone. The firm is also committed to promotion gender equality and diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace, having been named Employer of the Year at the GLEN Workplace Equality Index Awards".
