The impact of the crisis on offshore centres, the OECD agenda on tax havens, and battles over the AIFM, and hedge fund regulation feature in financial centres conference in April. Back
The regulatory gulf between Europe and the US will be addressed by leading Washington regulatory policy figures Peter Wallison and Paul Atkins in a conference on global financial centres in Dublin in April. The Conference will assess the impact of the financial crisis on offshore centres, as well as the prospects for international financial centres. The OECD agenda on tax havens, and battles over the AIFM, hedge funds regulation and credit derivatives regulation will also feature.

Wallison, former General Counsel of the US Treasury and a leading member of the US Congress Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission will focus on the problem of how to resolve failed or failing Institutions that are operating globally, for example, Lehmans. Atkins, former SEC Commissioner, and now member of the five person Congress Oversight Panel on TARP will also speak.

The global financial services recovery is leading to a radical re-design of financial services centres worldwide. The Third Global Financial Services Centres Conference will discuss the transformation of centres, large and small, and will be attended by regulators, tax and legal experts from around the world. The Conference programme is published here

The event is part of the annual calendar of strategic planners in global financial services companies and their advisers, and in eight sessions on April 27th and 28th, many of leading decisionmakers from centres in Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Asia will roll out their redefined business models for the new market environment of 2010 and beyond.
