Keynote speeches at the Finance Dublin provided global news coverage on many of the key issues affecting the IFSC.
Former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins spoke at the conference, and the keynote address was given by Peter J. Wallison, whose analysis of the causes of the credit crisis are dominating new thinking on the causes of the credit crisis.
Michael Mainelli, was one of the chairs of the Finance Dublin GFSC Conference in April. Mainelli, author of the much watched GFCI index of global financial centres chaired the second day session of the conference in Dublin Castle on April 27th and 28th. The conference heard from over 30 speakers. Joining Mainelli as chairs were Peter O’Dwyer, the well known funds industry director, and secretary of the Irish Directors Forum, who chaired the tax segments of the conference, and the special Irish IFSC segment of the conference.
Wallison detailed research work he has done relating to the resolution of the Lehmans collapse between the two jurisdictions of London and New York, which has featured as headline stories in the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal in the past month.

The conference featured a star studded cast of speakers. Among them were Dan Mitchell, regarded by some as the leading global tax economist on offshore tax centres, and the taxation of offshore finance. He is a leading US commentator on the Obama Administration’s tax policies, an issue which IDA Ireland has been mandated to lobby in Washington over the past year.
