Description:
The Representative Church Body (RCB) has a vacancy for a trainee accountant within its Finance team. This is a diverse role with particular emphasis on investment/fund accounting.

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years' previous work experience in a finance role and will have completed a third level business or finance qualification.

The successful candidate will have an interest in, or be working towards, a professional accountancy qualification. An understanding of accounts and knowledge of accounts payable and/or receivable will be a distinct advantage.

The RCB offers a competitive salary, study package, quality training & mentoring and hands on practical experience within the Finance team.

This full time position is based in Church of Ireland House, Rathmines, Dublin 6. The RCB is the trustee body for the Church of Ireland, managing substantial funds on behalf of the Church.

Required Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills

Knowledge or previous experience of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable

Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and a knowledge of relevant accounting and management information systems

A flexible but structured approach to work and be capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast paced environment to deliver business needs.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to build relationships and communicate comfortably with personnel of different levels and backgrounds.

Experience of producing accurate work and pays attention to detail.

Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
Desirable Skills: Valid EU work permit

An understanding of the ethos of the Church of Ireland
Experience: A minimum of 1 year’s work in a finance function
Desirable Experience: 2-3 years' previous work experience in a finance function
Required Education: Essential :- Third level business or finance qualification (degree, diploma or certificate)

An interest in, or be already working towards, a professional accountancy qualification (either accounts technician or accountant)

Desirable:- Recently qualified/part qualified Accounting Technician or Part qualified accountant (IATI, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

Interest in Investment management
Required Languages: Fluent English speaker

Company Profile: The Representative Church Body or RCB (www.ireland.anglican.org/rcb) was incorporated by Charter in 1870 under the provisions of the Irish Church Act 1869. Its legal structure is that of charitable trustee or trust corporation. It is governed by the Constitution of the Church of Ireland and accountable both to the General Synod (in relation to Church regulations) and to the Civil authorities (in relation to its responsibilities as trustee).

The principal function of the RCB is to hold property on behalf of the Church of Ireland as an incorporated trustee with perpetual succession (it does not have to appoint individual named trustees) and to administer funds in accordance with the underlying trusts.

Its main activities involve management of investments, administration of trusts and deeds of covenant, payment of clergy stipends and pensions, custodial and legal services as corporate trustee of property, legal transactions and treasury management as well as supporting the central governance of the Church and providing substantial finance for the sustentation of the clergy and pensioners, training of ordinands, education, youth, communications etc.

The membership of the RCB consists of the Archbishops and Bishops (ex-officio), members elected by the dioceses and twelve co-opted members.
