Authorisations Manager

A dynamic organisation is seeking an experience Authorisation Manager to join their Payment Institution/Electronic Money Institution Authorisations team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of professionals in conducting the authorisation process to the public or applications related to the authorisation granted to firms in the assigned industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure team deliverables are met through planning and direction
• Allocate work across the team
• Selection and recruitment of Authorisation Specialists and Associates with appropriate skills and experience
• Training, developing and coaching of team
• Succession planning with team to ensure continuity of expertise
• Collaborate with other managers to support the overall delivery of the Directorates goals
• Ensure the ongoing development of team members
• Lead the technical assessment of applications for authorisation of applications related to the authorisation granted to in the assigned industry sectors against the relevant authorisation criteria and make decisions/high quality technically accurate recommendations in respect of those applications to ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory framework and statutory criteria
• Devise and ensure the proper implementation of appropriate and effective authorisation and supervisory processes and procedures and lead the team in a manner that fosters and drives a culture of challenge and continuous improvement
• Conduct horizon scanning and monitor developments both nationally and internationally in order to understand to impact on existing authorisation and supervisory standards or the need to amend such standards
• Design and take responsibility for implementing the annual team work programme including the annual sectoral risk assessment to ensure delivery of relevant Directorate Balanced Scorecard objectives and the embedding of Authorisations Mission in the Directorate
• Develop good relationships to ensure delivery of objectives and continuous culture of collaborating and sharing
• Develop good relationships with external stakeholders to ensure delivery of objectives and facilitate horizon scanning
• Contribute to the development Directorate strategy and operational plans in order to advance to embedding of and ongoing delivery of the Directorates mandate
• Support various functions in contributing to the wider development of the organisation and the delivery of strategy including participating in cross divisional initiatives and other forum both internally and externally

Key Skills/Qualifications:
• 5 years’ + professional experience in regulatory/financial services
• Third level degree or professional qualification in a relevant field
• Strong understanding of risk management processes and principles
• Knowledge of regulation and consumer protection
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
