Senior Policy Specialist ‑ Governance
A dynamic financial institution based in Dublin are seeking an experienced Senior Policy Specialist to join their Financial Risk and Governance Policy division. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert contribution to the development of the organisation’s European policy and support its implementation, to ensure high policy outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and propose the direction of the development of governance policy both at EU and national level, including providing advice on the implementation of the policy
• Provide expert technical input to colleagues and relevant government departments on policy developments and national transportation to ensure the development of a technically accurate and sound regulatory framework
• Provide advice to internal stakeholders, recommending solutions to complex supervisory problems and emerging issues
• Represent Ireland on relevant domestic and EU fora, including sub-committees of relevant authorities
• Deliver strong influence for the organisation on such bodies, making on the spot judgements, negotiation in order to ensure the organisations interests are represented
• Provide technical briefing and recommendations to senior executives on governance matters as required to ensure senior managers are appraised on technical issues involved and how these issues would affect the organisation’s risk appetite both at a domestic and EU level
• Provide relevant skills transfer, coaching and mentoring to team members to share expertise and ensure that the necessary skills, competencies and knowledge are being developed and leveraged across the Governance and Accounting team
• Manage and foster a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that policy positions and proposals and conveyed clearly and that queries and concerns are appropriately addressed at various stages in policy development
• Develop and deliver high quality training and provide supports on specific governance issues to ensure that policy outcomes are understood and embedded as intended
Key Skills/Qualifications:
• 10 years’ + professional experience in a legal/policy/industry management role related to governance
• Educated to degree level in a related discipline
• Proven experience operating autonomously in negotiations or in dealing with complex legal concepts
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the European and Irish financial legislative and regulatory framework
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
