Job Title: Finance Manager - Young Social Innovators
Location: Dublin
Position Type: Full Time

Remuneration: Commensurate with experience

Young Social Innovators (YSI) is passionate about young people and education and the world we live in today. We know that young people can be powerful catalysts for social change when given opportunities, supports and programmes. To this end, YSI is to the forefront of bringing innovation learning and practice to young people and educators in Ireland.

Purpose of this Role

This is a key management role in Young Social Innovators and will help the organisation to sustain and develop its work in Ireland. We are looking for someone with a range of expertise and experience in financial management and strategy, human resources, IT systems and governance ideally within the not-for-profit sector.

This position is a great opportunity to join our small team which brings social innovation learning and practice to thousands of young people and hundreds of teachers each year.

The person appointed will report to the Chief Executive Officer of Young Social Innovators and will be a key member of its management team.

Key areas of responsibility

Lead and deliver the financial controls and corporate governance management functions
Oversee and maintain smooth financial processes for the organisation
Ensure that YSI is legally compliant with corporate and employment legislation and has sound governance
Guide and oversee the Information Systems and Human Resource functions.
Finance and Governance

Report to the CEO, Board of Directors and financial sub-committees in the areas of finance, governance and risk management, including the preparation of board and committee papers
Ensure all YSI’s financial affairs are maintained and managed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with current good practice
Undertake all aspects of financial management and control, including budgeting, salaries, pensions, reporting and producing management and statutory accounts in accordance with SORP and legal requirements
Undertake financial processing (accounts receivable and accounts payable) using SAGE
Be responsible for liaising with auditors, bankers, insurers, funders, public and private and legal advisers; Charities Regulator Authority Office, Companies and Revenue Offices and partner relations.
Manage the preparation and submission of grant applications and processes with statutory and corporate funders.
Legal issues and operational effectiveness

Manage all legal issues relating to YSI contracts and commitments including statutory bodies, data protection and health and safety regulations.
Oversee contracted services and review the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of operations, including IT systems
Develop and manage systems, efficiencies and high quality standards in relation to all delivery aspects and quality information and sponsor reporting systems.
Human resources

Administer human resources function, and to keep up-to-date personnel files and relevant policies (e.g. personnel, health and safety etc) ensuring the function is compliant at all times with relevant legislation
Administer volunteer resource function.
Relationships

Report to the CEO and work as a key member of the management team
Act as the line manager of the Administrative Assistant/s
Work closely with the CEO and hairs of the Finance and Audit Committees
Provide general financial leadership and development within the team.

Required Skills: Candidate Profile

Part or fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA
Proficient in Microsoft word, excel, outlook and Sage, strong IT skills
The person appointed will necessarily have previous and substantial proven experience in the area of organisation management (preferably in the not for profit sector).
An experienced accountant who has a cross sectoral managerial experience in areas such as Finance, HR and IT (preferably in the not for profit sector).
Excellent communications, teamwork and interpersonal skills
Track record in managing and reporting to public sector bodies and other funding bodies
Proven ability in managing multiple projects
Enthusiastic, reliable, adaptable team player with ability to coach, mentor and direct
Strategic thinker with an understanding of the social sector, its governance requirements
