Description: |
Senior Contract Accountant
A leading Financial Services company based in Dublin are seeking an extremely experienced Senior Accountant to join their team for a 6 month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of the most complex accounting processes. This is a vital role within the company in sustaining the integrity of the accounting process that the role is supporting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Utilise advanced accounting expertise and process knowledge and experience to perform more complex accounting activities for transactions over the course of the reporting period
• Assess the derivation of complex journal entries associated with global/capital market products such as derivatives, broker dealer services IT services
• Provide guidance and coordinate period close activities
• Ensure proper balancing and control standards are in place and maintained
• Perform analysis and utilise business acumen to assess business trends as it relates to complex accounting processes
• Provide guidance in the correction of complex data errors and ensure timely resolution
• Address questions from counterparts within local and US regulatory and SEC reporting teams
• Coach/support fellow team members to handle more complex issues/exceptions
• Act as a team lead for complex accounting processes and review, develop and deliver process documentation, training content and provide guidance for the accounting activities, especially complex principles
• Contribute and provide value added participation in defining finance processes for new business initiatives, partnering the business in ensuring new products are brought to market in the required control environment
• Contribute to process improvement reviews with team as part of an ongoing exception management
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, timeliness and accessibility of financial data
• Ensure effective controls are sustained in compliance with any accounting pronouncements and policies
• Provide prompt resolution to open control exceptions
• Ensure proper utilisation of company standards, sustaining the agreed data definitions and usage
• Perform root cause analysis for complex exceptions
• Identify, prepare, recommend and implement strategies to reduce/eliminate exceptions over time
• Recognise risks and opportunities within the accounting process
• Lead, coordinate and perform ad hoc and special project assignments as required
• Understand, participate, contribute and comply with standard demand management and service management processes
• Review and sustain Mutual Service Account delivery standards and deliver to commitments on a period, quarterly and annual basis
• Monitor regulatory and accounting policy changes related to the business supported and ensure active communication with the business to help them navigate the changing environment
• Ensure regulatory reporting teams are kept abreast of new initiatives and ensure the required information is delivered to their systems to facilitate accurate and timely reporting
Key Skills/Qualifications:
• 15 years’+ of professional accounting experience in a complex global environment
• Educated to degree level in finance, accounting or another relevant field
• Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
• Previous senior stakeholder experience
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
