My client are seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Finance Manager for two of their properties - an iconic hotel and a boutique hotel/restaurant.
In your role of Financial Controller, you will be responsible for providing effective operational finance and commercial support to the Hotel General Manager and management team. You will also ensure rigorous financial control and reporting environment exists. You will lead and develop the Finance function within the hotels.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the financial management of the hotel, including budgets, preparing and analysing P&L statements, cash flows and a short and long term forecast and plan for capital expenditure.
Prepares monthly Profit and Loss Account, with comparisons to budget and previous year, highlighting and investigating differences. To this end, calculates accruals, pre-payments, wage journals, food/beverage/other stocktakes and GP results, or oversee their calculation.
Optimise the use of Systems to improve efficiency and information.
Lead the planning and forecasting process and ensure that financial plans are consistent with each hotel’s strategic objectives.
Optimise costs and cash to improve margin and target GOP and deliver strong Working Capital management
Maximises cash flow performance of the business through controls on inventory, income, credit and collection, disbursements, deposits and remittances and expenditure.
Control and analyse costs on an ongoing basis, in line with budgets, liaising with Head of Departments and maximising the use of funds available, taking action to control negative deviation.
Liaise with auditors and assist in preparation and audit of annual statutory accounts and tax returns. Implements and maintains acceptable accounting practices and procedures as required by corporate policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting practices, and those affected by local conditions.

This role requires the candidate to have transport as there is a requirement to visit the hotel properties
Functional Capabilities:
Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 4+ years PQE
Strong MS Excel skills.
Strong financial accounting knowledge.
Strong internal control awareness.
Analytical approach and creativity in problem resolution.
Hospitality experience preferably, but not essential. |
