Job Title: Motor Underwriter | Dublin 2 | Permanent

Description:
Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Head of Underwriting, the Motor Underwriter will be responsible for managing the performance of commercial motor and ancillary insurance programmes covering motor fleets of the Group in allocated European countries, monitoring adherence to programme pricing, conditions and acceptance guidelines and ensuring our client’s insurance products reach their target market as intended. The role focuses on the following tasks:

Monitor the continued viability of the insurance programme structure in the allocated countries ensuring a clear and transparent understanding of roles and responsibilities and that policyholder interests are maintained.
Review of policy conditions (annually) and mediation agreements for alignment with local market trends and cooperating with the Head of Legal to ensure continued legal compliance.
Oversight and control of the correct application of our client’s tariff, tarification tools and underwriting acceptance criteria, including desk based and onsite underwriting reviews.
Handling any queries regarding pricing, interpretation of policy conditions and risk acceptance, liaising with the Head of Underwriting to obtain special acceptances from the reinsurers prior to confirmation of cover;
Reviewing experience based tarification of large local or international clients; managing request for quotes on international insurance programme tenders in respect of allocated countries;
Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the insurance programmes in the allocated countries as compared to the budget as well as in the context of the company’s underwriting strategy, planning corrective measures where appropriate; cooperating with the Operations team to obtain supporting key performance indicators.
Manage the annual renewal of the insurance programmes of the allocated countries, cooperating with the Operations team for the preparatory analysis of performance and measurement of the financial impact of the renewal terms and negotiating with local stakeholders regarding implementation;
Cooperate with the Business Development team to manage any underwriting queries from policyholders and/or intermediaries and map opportunities to introduce additional insurance programmes and assisting in their development and implementation.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:

Third level education; insurance qualification (APA, CIP, ACII)
Must have at least 3 years relevant non-life insurance underwriting experience, preferably in Motor and Motor-related risks;
Knowledge of the principles of motor insurance conducted under Freedom of Services, including EU distribution provisions and Product Oversight and Governance;
Knowledge of the commercial motor insurance industry in Europe
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Travel will be required in the role.
Desirable:

Underwriting experience to include wording and product development;
Knowledge of one or more additional European languages, preferably French.
Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft applications.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
