| Description: |
As a Motor Underwriter you will be part of a small specialised team responsible for the implementation and maintenance of International underwriting controls and the provision of technical underwriting expertise within the company. This role will report to the Underwriting Manager.
Responsibilities:
Analysing and underwriting insurance programmes in conjunction with in-house Actuaries
Define, develop and update policy wordings for each of the existing programs, including new business
Develop, review and monitor the implementation of the Risk Selection & Pricing Procedures issued by the Company to its clients and insurance intermediaries
Construction and review of tariffs for local and Pan-European insurance programs
Active participation in the transfer of technical insurance knowledge to other personnel within the underwriting department and also in other departments
Review, analyse and approve quotations referred to the company
Identifying and implementing corrective measures required to enhance the profitability of a motor portfolio
Provide support to the Insurance Account Manager in defining the underwriting objectives & underwriting strategy for each account
Develop analysis of policy level information including benchmark data for fleets and clients, underwriting segmentation etc.
Periodical review of program structure, terms and conditions
Building strong relationships at decision making level
Part of project team for the improvement of current procedures and business development
Any other tasks or projects as requested by the Underwriting Manager
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of underwriting rating methods, procedures and reviews
Skills:
Experience of motor insurance underwriting (Fleet & Personal lines)
Experience in a specialist motor underwriting role with a proven track record of identifying and implementing measures required to enhance the profitability of a motor portfolio
Experience in the design and construction of policy wordings for a range of motor insurance and ancillary covers
Excellent numeric and analytical skills
Strong computer skills and knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
Ability to meet monthly reporting deadlines
Team player who will play an important role as part of a small highly specialised team
Education and Experience:
Recognised professional insurance qualification commensurate with the position
Minimum of 5 years’ experience underwriting motor insurance risks and ancillary covers
