Head of Data Governance
A leading Financial Services company based in Dublin are seeking a Head of Data Governance to join their team. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Chief Data Officer and will be responsible for a team of 7 analyst while also establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as a point of escalation for governance and data quality issues and work closely with business leadership to improve the quality and add value of core data assets, respond to regulatory requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the business
• Lead how the function identifies, assesses, monitors and reports on data related risks across the business and provide a review of Data Governance and Data Quality through reports for senior management and related committees
• Lead and manage all data governance activities in order to improve governance, quality and value of core data assets
• Act as liaison between the business and technology to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated and understood and ensure operational prioritisation and planning
• Develop a working relationship with the various functions to ensure the programme is effectively and efficiently implemented
• Review and maintain data governance policies and practices to meet overall business needs and ensure adherence to this framework
• Deliver quality improvements
• Lead the data remediation initiatives and process improvements to resolve issues
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement on data governance initiatives
• Measure compliance and adherence to the data governance framework
• Interpret regulatory data requirements and provide guidance in meeting new or existing regulations
• Respond to internal audit inquiries relating to data governance
• Define data quality dimensions applicable to critical data elements, monitor the development of quality rules and agree thresholds with stakeholders
Key Skills/Qualifications:
• Educated to Degree level in Computer Science or another relevant field
• Strong knowledge of data quality and data governance best practice
• Excellent knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
