Global law firms move into Irish investment funds market Back
Several global law firms have announced plans to expand into the Irish funds market in a positive sign for Ireland's investment fund industry.
Major international legal firms Eversheds, Dechert and Walker’s are all moving into the Irish investment funds market. Walker’s, who are due to be up and running later in the year, have been advertising positions for the Dublin office. Dechert are also set to open an office and William Fry’s Declan O’Sullivan is confirmed as a partner for the office. Meanwhile Eversheds O’Donnell Sweeney have announced the launch of an Irish investment funds team.

Stephen Carty, formerly of Dillon Eustace, will head up the Eversheds Irish investment funds team.

‘With the draft Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive and UCITS IV in the pipeline, this is a very interesting time for the investment funds industry and Ireland in particular. Ireland is increasingly being viewed by both asset managers and investors as an attractive location for investment funds to domicile.’ said Carty.

‘We have created this integrated investment funds team in response to our global clients’ increasing need for specialists on the ground in Ireland. Stephen brings with him considerable expertise and this appointment enables us to best meet our clients needs in the rapidly changing investment funds market,’ said Pamela Thompson, Head of the financial institutions group at Eversheds.
