Irish students come first in the world in accountancy exams |

Two Irish students have placed first in the world in their recent Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams. |
Cian McComb, a resident of Galway who now lives in Luxembourg working for Ernst and Young, earned first place in the world in the Paper P1 – Governance, Risk and Ethics exam. He was competing against the 23,316 other students taking the paper. Cian sat the exam as a distance learning student of BPP.

Jitka Pechancova, originally from the Czech Republic but now living in Limerick, came first in the world in the FIA (Foundations in Accountancy) paper Foundations in Financial Management. 2,594 other students sat this exam. Jitka is a student of Griffith College, Limerick.
According to Liz Hughes, head of ACCA Ireland, 'For any student coming first in the world is a massive achievement and having two students from Ireland coming first in the world in their respective exams is exceptional, and testament to the hard work put in by both Cian and Jitka. It highlights the high standard of teaching, the quality of courses, and calibre of student we have here in Ireland.'
Globally the ACCA has 154,000 members and 432,000 students in 170 countries. There are over 20,000 members and students of the ACCA in Ireland. As well as offering qualifications in accountancy, finance and management, the ACCA provides a business network for the industry, promotes the appropriate regulation of accounting and conducts research and training. |
